In keeping with our current business needs the Supply Chain & Administration Division is looking for a person who meets the criteria listed below:

Senior Manager - Business Contracts
Ref: SC&A-SM-BC-DEC09

Reporting to the Head of Department - Procurement, the Senior Manager n Business Contracts will be responsible for end-to-end contract management through setting, managing and changing contracts policies, practices and procedures that determine contract terms thus ensuring the business remains competitive and flexible.

The job holders key responsibilities will be to:
Develop and implement policies and procedures for preparation and review of business contracts/trial contracts, management and administration, in compliance with company policy;
Ensuring contract currency/validity;
Implementing and maintaining contract management systems;
Managing transitioning/mobilization of new services and supply contracts;
Resolving contractual issues and enhancing contract compliance through reports on exceptions;
Contract reviews for regulatory/legislative compliance.
Ensure all signed contracts are communicated to all relevant parties to provide visibility, awareness and interpretation to support implementation;
Liaise with all departments for annual contract plans and ensure implementation of the same;
Manage contract mobilization period and contract transition through a named team process
Monitor and oversee compliance to contracts and SLA's, milestones, deliverables, invoicing etc;
Data analysis on off-contract purchases and variations on contracts;
Manage the company relationship with all contracted suppliers;
Provide regular reports to user departments in a format that provides current and accurate status of negotiated contracts.

The ideal candidate should possess the following
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a business related field;
Post graduate diploma in CIPS;
MBA qualification will be an added advantage;
At least 10 years working experience of which 5 years should be in a senior position preferably in procurement;
Ability to manage end-to-end process in contract handling;
Hands-on experience in ERP modules;
Good project management and co-ordination skills;
Advanced knowledge of MS office applications;
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with good evaluative skills and ability to think critically;
Good negotiation skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
A person of high integrity, ethical, proactive and able to work under pressure with respect for deadlines;
A team player, assertive with good networking skills and the ability to achieve high quality results in the face of challenges and setbacks.

Supply Chain, a function within the Supply Chain & Administration Division of Safaricom Ltd is responsible for using supply analysis, procurement, logistics and distribution and stock management processes in the company.

To build on the existing team of professionals, the department is now looking to fill the following position.

Principal Supply Analyst

Ref: SCA –PSA– OCT09

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Principal Supply Analyst will be primarily responsible for using modeling tools to develop the supply chain performance management framework in order to ensure growth in value-adding partnerships with suppliers; building forecasts through collaboration with relevant suppliers and departments; managing analysis of specific products and services as well as ensuring continuing optimization of the company’s procurement spend.

Key Responsibilities:
Identify strategic sourcing opportunities within specific companies and across the supply chain partnership;
Identify cost reduction opportunities to lower costs and improve performance by managing and providing statistical trend analysis;
Manage the company’s supplier pre-qualification and certification process and supplier database including the supplier performance evaluation matrix;
Develop and maintain a framework for establishing and managing relationships with suppliers that enables suppliers performance to be measured and improved continuously;
Develop, implement and maintain a supplier and internal process performance management framework based on business and customer requirements;
Perform industry research and analyze pricing/market trends and give recommendations to improve supply chain;
Evaluate controls and implement procedures that ensure integrity of the data and supply chain financial results;
Assist in the strategic commodity negotiation process;
Develop procurement systems that enhance processes through automation, simplification, cost reduction, accuracy improvement and data management;
Develop and implement formal contingency sourcing plans as part of the business continuity planning framework;
Develop and implement a Purchasing Cycle Tracking System in the ERP SYSTEM;
Provide Oracle super user support/regular training to ERP users;
Support the design of systems and processes that will ensure efficient and effective flow of information relating to procurement processes;
Facilitate the preparation and circulation of periodic and ad-hoc supply chain reports for use in planning and performance management.

The ideal candidate will possess:
A university graduate with a Bachelor Degree in Technology, Engineering, Business or related field from a recognized university;
Professional qualification in purchasing and supplies management-Post graduate diploma in supply Chain management;
A member of KISM or any other recognized supply chain professional body (CIPS);
At least 8 years work experience, 5 years of which should be in management level in operations or supply chain environment with responsibility for Supply analysis/purchasing or supply chain operations management;
Excellent skills and experience in working within an ERP environment;
Extremely organized and detail oriented with excellent follow-up skills;
Excellent analytical skills with ability to influence and make decisions;
Good customer service skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
