Public Affairs Manager

Job Description

Purpose
To provide co-ordination and supervision of activies of the Public Affairs Department.

Key Responsibilities:

Provides inputs for the formulation of public relation policies by top management
Develops and ensures implementation of strategies for maintaining good relations with the Board's Divisions and Subsidiaries, and the publics.
Disseminates information in an appropriate manner to the Board's Stakeholders and the Public about the Board, it's Divisions' and Subsidiaries' operations.
Advises top Management on all press, public relations and protocol matters
Co-ordinates and supervises preparation of reports, News Letters, House Journals and handbooks on the Board, its Divisions' and Subsidiaries' operations.
Co-ordnates and supervises execution of Fairs, Cocoa Day, National Farmers Day, Exhibitions. Cress conferences, Durbars, Meetings, Official celebrations.
Drafts speeches, press releases and advertisement
Co-ordinates and supervises protocol functions.
Receives and briefs important guests on the functions and operations of Board programmes e.g. Swollen Shoot Control Programme, Farmers education, new agronomic and husbandry programmes, etc.
Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Required Skills or Experience

This is a Management position and the ideal candidatemust possess a good first degree in the Social Sciences, Public Relations/ Mass Communication/ Journalism from a recognized University or Institution with 6-9 years post qualification with managerial experience. A post graduate degree in Media and Communication or related field is an advantage.

Very broad-based knowledge in the works of government and media relations
Good understanding of the operations of the cocoa industry.
Should be research-oriented and coversant with our publics
Professional attitude towards deadlines and meeting job schedules.
A team player with drive and commitment to complement a strong Public Relations Team at both the corporate and divisional levels.

Skills;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven computer literacy in MS Word, Powerpoint , Excel and Internet. Web Design and Development is an advantage.
Strong writing, proof- reading and editing skills.
Excellent in information gathering and reporting.
Fluent in English language. A second foreign language is an advantage.
Working knowledge of digital photography and videoing is desirable.
