BACKGROUND

SCCT in Port Said is a state-of-the-art container terminal located at the northern end of the Suez Canal. The majority shareholder of the terminal is APM Terminals, one of the largest container terminal operators in the world with over 50 container terminals spanning 31 countries and 5 continents.
SCCT has been serving global shipping lines since its inauguration in 2004 and is today the largest container terminal in Egypt and one of the largest facilities in the Mediterranean. An ambitious expansion program is currently underway, which by 2011 will see the terminal capacity doubled – an investment in excess of USD 724 million.

POSITION SUMMARY


- This position is charged with having to ensure that all HSSE policies which are put into place at APMT are stringently followed, despite operational considerations in order to ensure that Safety & Security are not compromised in any way.


- This position is responsible for all of the policies, practices, and operations for the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Security functions within the Terminal.


- The position also manages the damage claims generated by the terminal as also the handling of dangerous goods & emergency situations which arise.


QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


- Requires a College or Higher degree and certification in safety, security and quality management.


- Requires a proven record of HSSE management experience from preferably port operations and/or similar industrial environments.


- Requires effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.


- Requires ability to provide leadership, obtain cooperation and assistance to meet objectives. Effective interpersonal skills.


- Requires good verbal and written communications skills in English and in the local language, where required.


- Requires effective interpersonal skills.


- Requires general knowledge and experience on terminal practices (medium level as minimum).


- Requires knowledge of Security regulations (national, & international.) and experience on security practices


- Requires knowledge and experience on claims management and insurance.
