Brief Description

TO DEVELOP AND MANAGE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PHYSICAL LOGISTICS PROCESSES ACROSS THE COMPANY AND FULLY OWN THE C&F PROCESS. IN DOING SO,TAKE FULL MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY FOR LOGISTICS RELATED ACTIVITIES ((IN BOUND & OUT BOUND).) AND PROVIDE STRATEGIC DIRECTION TO ENSURE RESPONSIVENESS TO MARKET CHANGES,SECURE MARKET SUPPLY,ENSURE ACHIEVEMENT OF OPTIMAL UTILIZATION OF RESOURCES AND MEET PERFORMANCE TARGETS SO AS TO ACHIEVE A SAFE ANDD RELIABLE SUPPLY CHAIN FOR KENYA AIRWAYS.

Detailed Description



1. Provide coordinated leadership to the Logistics team to achieve company wide objectives.

2. Develop and Implement Logistics strategy, policies, procedures and guidelines in line with Supply Chain Strategic Objectives and business focus, for KQ across the network.

3. Develop and manage a KQ logistics network in line with strategy, optimizing costs to improve company profitability.

4. Manage the Logistics Service providers including C&F, Freight Forwarding, and Air and Sea logistics and ensure compliance with processes and procedures as per the Aviation Regulatory requirements.

5. Develop and implement a Logistics performance matrix inline with the Supply Chain metrics to effectively monitor and drive performance improvements.

6. Commercial input to all the Logistics contracts with external parties in collaboration with the manager, Procurement Contracts.

7. Continuously review and re engineer the Logistics process (methodology and tools), challenge the status quo, identify new opportunities and ensure their exploitation through implementation to continuously improve the performance in order to reduce costs, improve service and increase responsiveness to customer needs across the Kenya Airways network.

8. Review staff skills required, identify skill gaps, train and develop to ensure world class people and performance are in place to secure business continuity.

9. Professionally manage the C&F process for in bound and out bound logistics, to reduce on lead time, optimize costs and deliver cost savings in line with overall Supply Chain strategy.

10. Undertake supplier management of Logistics service providers, coordinating performance measurement and reporting, and putting in place supplier improvement plans as necessary.

11. In liaison with the Manager, Procuement contracts ensure full compliance to Logistics Contract provisions by all business stakeholders and periodic contract performance reviews.

Job Requirements

· Knowledge, Skills, Experience



· A university degree in a relevant field

· Knowledge in PC based systems with demonstrated knowledge of integrated systems and planning.

· Knowledge of KCAA Requirements

· Graduate Diploma in Purchasing & Supplies management or equivalent from a recognised institution

· Organization & problem solving analytical skills

· Computer proficiency

4-6 years relevant experience in logistics with 2 years at management or supervisory level.
