Area of Responsibility
This is a new position within Damco with responsibility for spearheading our entry into the Aid & Relief sector. To be successful, the applicant will need extensive commercial and operational experience gained from working for a logistics provider to various Aid & Relief agencies. Damco has 275 offices in 100 countries around the world with more than 10,500 employees, and is particularly well represented in Aid & Relief recipient countries. This is a global position based in Cape Town, South Africa, and reports into the Africa Regional CCO.
Key Responsibilities
· Set and drive global strategy for Damco to develop in this sector
· Create value proposition for Damco
· Lead the dedicated Aid & Relief team
· Secure globally contracted Aid & Relief business
· Provide all necessary support to assist local countries in securing Aid & Relief business
· Run air and sea chartering operations and contracting as necessary
· Provide market intelligence / leads for Aid & Relief business
· Raise Damco’s profile amongst Aid & Relief agencies

· Damco business development and sales managers worldwide
· Damco Aid & Relief client managers worldwide

Functional Capabilities / Experience
· At least 5 years business development, operations and project management experience working as a (sub-contracted) logistics provider to the Aid & Relief industry
· Sea and Air chartering expertise
· Project cargo experience
· Leadership experience
· Strategy development experience
· Experience working in Africa or other developing economies
· Managing 3rd party sub-contractors delivering freight forwarding and warehousing services
